Simple Health

When we speak of health, so many times we equate it to diet and exercise.  For those that are more in the know you might even understand the affects of stress and sleep on your health.  Rarely do we ever equate our emotional health with being healthy.  The reality is, to truly be healthy, emotional health is also required.

But guess what?  Your emotional health isn’t going to be found in what others provide to you.  It is going to be found in what you provide to yourself by limiting the drama, eliminating the tough relationships, setting boundaries, providing time for yourself, and reaching for your dreams.

How do you do this?  It requires getting selfish.  Not in a bad way.  In a good way.  And spending some time with yourself, to truly understand what you need for you.  It is your life after all.  We cannot provide our best to the important people in our lives while we are giving everything we have as a person to others all day long, family included.  We must be our best selves to give them the best of ourselves.

Here are a couple of tips to get you started.

Take ownership of your life.  What do you want from your life?  Spend some time with this thought, write it down.  Look at it as a box of dreams that you stuffed away.  Pull that box back out and explore what you had in there.  You might be amazed at what you find.

Pick a couple of the items that really speak to you.  Determine when you want to have those items completed.  Don’t overthink it.  Just throw a date out there.

What actions are needed to make this happen?  Again, don’t overthink. Just write them down.  Then put some dates around those actions and who can help.

Affirmations – I used to think affirmations were somebody’s idea of craziness.  I have found otherwise.  Yes, it is silly telling yourself wonderful little things about yourself every morning and again at night.  However, it is a step in the direction of positivity.  You fake it until you make it.  You keep telling yourself the wonderful little things until you believe them.

Be Grateful – I also start my morning with Gratitudes.  Why? It sets the tone for a positive day.  It makes you stop and really evaluate what is important to you, what adds to your happiness, who adds to your happiness, etc.  Be grateful.

Get started.  Don’t wait one more day to build the life you have always imagined for yourself.  It is amazing how much your health will improve just by owning your time around the sun.
